EDN/EPX (eosinophil derived neurotoxin/eosinophil protein x)
EDN/EPX is a protein produced by and secreted from the human eosinophil granulocyte. The main known function of EDN/EPX is that of an RNase and in this regard it may be active in the anti-viral defence. EDN/EPX may be measured in urine or blood as a reflection the turnover and/or activity of the eosinophil population in the body. Small amounts of EDN/EPX may be found in neutrophil granulocytes Eosinophil Peroxidase was recently renamed EPX and to avoid confusion we will name EDN/EPX EDN only. However, in order to find litterature on the protein you should search for bot EDN and EPX.
We provide you with the tools necessary to study the biology of EDN.
The mouse monoclonal antibody against EDN mab 616 of the IgG1-type is suitable for the identification of EDN in tissues by immunocytochemistry (available)
Native EDN purified from the granules of healthy subjects (available)
An ELISA assay for the measurement of EDN in various bodily fluids (available)
